Windows Vista CD/DVD bug.
13 December 2006Ok this is lame.
If you accidently ‘open’ or ‘explore’ a empty CD or DVD drive in Windows Vista you are given this friendly dialog.

But, before you can cancel, the os opens/ejects the cd tray.
I won’t comment on the potential for damage to hardware as it is pretty obvious. What I don’t get is how on earth did this make it through a couple of betas and release candidates?

I’m sorry if this sounds cheeky, but i couldn’t stop laughing after reading this. It’d be so funny to see Microsoft getting globally debunked on Vista’s first day.

To be honest Vista isn’t too bad. I’ve been running it for about 2 or 3 weeks now since I am a MSDN subscriber.
But, I just thought this bit was incredibly silly.
Trying to be honest a fair, I will say that Visa seems to run faster on my hardware than fresh install of XP.

I purchased the new Window Vista and just opened a new double CD to play and rip.
Media player only recognized one of the CD’s.
The other tells me to insert a CD and then kicks it out. I know where I would like to insert it…

This might be useful to my father and mother in China, for they’ve never used a computer. But not for us.
I think Micrsoft can make it a preference to users and we can disable this function as we like.
